Birth preparation & hypnobirthing
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I bet you're feeling a mixure of excitement and nerves for what's ahead of you. It might be the first time you're doing this, or maybe your 5th+, and you're looking for hypnobirthing and birth preparation support to help you feel confident, connected and calm in the approach to your baby's arrival.
Everyone is so different, and I hugely believe that your birth prep needs to be as individual as you are - holistic and focused on how you FEEL. I'm not here to teach you how to birth, but to help you connect mind & body, and figure out what's important to you.
My birth preparation courses are informal, interactive, and tailored to you as much as possible. Packed with knowledge, insight, and tools and techniques to practise - helping you prepare for ALL kinds of births, from homebirths, to assisted hospital births, to caesarean births.
Private hypnobirthing and birth preparation courses
What is hypnobirthing? It's a way to reduce fear and anxiety around birth, and help you prepare for the most positive birth possible, however it unfolds. Whatever kind of birth you're planning, from a homebirth, midwife led unit birth, hospital birth to caesarean birth, you want to go into it feeling as prepared as possible, with tools and techniques to support you and your birth partner. This is not about having the perfect birth, that doesn't exist! What is actually important to you? My courses will help you feel calmer and more connected to yourself, and help you to gain confidence in your abilities and navigating changes in labour or your birth plans.
Private courses are held at my home studio in Cirencester, or in your home (within 30 mins from GL7). Perfect from the second trimester onwards and suitable for your birth partner to attend with you too, or you're welcome to attend solo.

What's covered in my courses?
Depending on the time we have together, you can choose from a range of topics to cover - the support is shaped around your needs.
All things hypnobirthing (fear release, breathing techniques, visualisations, using affirmations, connecting mind and body)
All things birth and body education (how your body and uterus work, what helps this and what hinders it
Optimal foetal positioning, movements to support balance in your pelvis, personalised yoga practises for your body
How your birth partner can support you physically and emotionally, with hands on techniques like counterpressure.
Comfort measures and pain relief options, places of birth, labour flow/stages and the golden hour)
Navigating birth paths (vaginal, assisted and caesarean birth, induction, how to make decisions, advocacy, navigating the maternity system, forming your birth preferences)
Postnatal planning and those early weeks, breastfeeding/bottle feeding and all things postpartum recovery
I offer a way to help prepare you for birth, and feel more positive and confident in navigating your pregnancy and birth. Hypnobirthing includes a mixture of relaxation techniques, scripts and audios, which help to calm the nervous system and work with the subconscious, to begin changing any negative beliefs around birth. We also explore all forms of birth, what to expect, understanding what's happening in your body, and how your partner can support you. We will look at the evidence and pros and cons of interventions, and how you can make decisions when needed. It's one thing knowing your options and choices, but another knowing how to make sure your voice is heard in the birth space and having the confidence to be heard.
